Behind the Song

In simplest terms, the song is about marriage. It is about those times where the ‘eternal’ bond is tested; where great stresses and intense pressures are endured. We find a way to muddle through. Life can throw some seriously heavy stuff our way, and at times, we may become wrought with despair, but always, like the song says, we carry on through love, honor, faith and trust.

Lyrics

Will we bend, will we break ~ I cannot take the anticipation ~ Of waiting for that other shoe to fall ~ A little give, too much take ~ Too many times has strained our relationship ~ The world is still turning, yet we seem stalled ~ Gold and diamond, turned to dust ~ Broken promises, hearts cleft in twain ~ Love and honor, faith and trust ~ And but for their grace we still remain ~ Words in iron, lost to rust ~ Sacred vows now wrought in pain ~ Love and honor, faith and trust ~ And but for their grace we still remain ~ Will we bend, or will we break ~ Stars falling from their fixed positions ~ Like memories torn and scattered about the floor ~ Will we sleep, or will we wake ~ From the nightmare ~ that haunts our union ~ A demon quieted nevermore ~ Gold and diamond, turned to dust ~ Broken promises, hearts cleft in twain ~ Love and honor, faith and trust ~ And but for their grace we still remain ~ Words in iron, lost to rust ~ Sacred vows now wrought in pain ~ Love and honor, faith and trust ~ And but for their grace we still remain ~ And but for their grace we still remain
